During treatment, the cooling head and gel protects the top layers of the skin, allowing the light to exclusively target the hair. This keeps the skin safe and can therefore be used to treat many different skin and hair types. After being absorbed by the hair, the light energy is converted to heat and radiates into the hair follicle, destroying it by denaturing the proteins necessary to create new hair. The result is a permanent reduction in hair growth.

The Diode laser works on a wide range of skin and hair types and we believe it is the very best choice for hair removal. However, many Sydney clinics choose the less effective Alexandrite laser, primarily because it is faster. While a single treatment with a Diode laser can take slightly longer, we are more than happy to put in the extra time for a better, safer result. In addition, we prefer that you let the hair in the treatment area grow for at least a few days leading up to your appointment to allow us to see where the hair is and what is is like before we shave the hair for you prior to treatment. Most laser clinics do not do this and may even charge extra to shave the area, but how can they be sure of where the hair is growing and what parameters to use if they never see the hair?
